Dr. Aswani RS, Associate Professor, School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, IILM University, Uttar Pradesh is an interdisciplinary scholar whose research interests lie at the intersection of security, strategy, and environment. She has a PhD from University of Kerala (2020) in Maritime Security Challenges for India in the 21st Century: Political and Strategic Issues. She passed the UGC National Eligibility Test for Lectureship in July 2018. She completed her M. Phil on ‘India-Maldives Relations: A Geostrategic Perspective’ and received the Best Dissertation Award from T.V. Paul, McGill University, Canada in 2014. She also has an MBA in Energy Management (2022). Aswani is the recipient of various awards such as Academic Excellence Award- UPES (2022), and Excellence in Journalism- Press Club Trivandrum (2015). Aswani joined the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in 2017 in the Department of Public Policy; the university’s reputation for excellence in energy studies offered her a perfect platform to explore the geopolitics of energy. During the pandemic, she was part of the founding team that launched the School for Life–a school which encompasses instilling essential life skills in next generation leaders. As part of the program, she led the delivery of ‘Environment and Sustainability’ course to 3000+ students across university, while also streamlining the curriculum, evaluation structure, course content, delivery methods, and pedagogy. She is currently working at the IILM School of Liberal Arts, where she aims to educate and inspire her students through innovative teaching methods via critical discourses on climate, energy, sustainability, and geopolitics. She has published in Scopus and WoS journals in the areas of Energy, Environment and Security–a nexus that aligns with her research interests. Apart from teaching and research, she spends her time trying to lead a mindful-minimalist-sustainable life.
