Chiranthi Senanayake is a Development Justice Researcher and Practitioner interested in Alternative Legal and Development Thinking, and Stakeholder Empowerment Incubation (especially of marginalised and vulnerable social groups) in the Global South. Her academic and development sector project engagements catalyse stakeholder-led dialogue and action on sufficiency-based, sustainability oriented and endogenous development systems in the Global South. She currently serves as a Lecturer at The Faculty of Law of Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka for The University of London International LLB programme and The Birmingham City University LLM in International Human Rights programme. Her research, presented at international symposiums. and published in several local journals, critically re-approaches development justice in light of complex non-traditional security (NTS) challenges in the Global South and conceptualises Endogenous Sustainable Development as an alternative development model.

After being Called to the Bar as an Attorney-at-Law of Sri Lanka and completing her University of London International LLB and her BA in Development Policy and Management Economics at the University of Colombo, she completed her LLM in International Economic Law, Justice and Development via the Chevening Scholarship 2020. She is currently pursuing a part-time MSc in International Development (Online Learning) through the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship 2022.

Expanding upon eleven years of community service engagement with South Asian development stakeholders–such as the youth foreign pool of the Sri Lankan National Youth Services Council, the government officers of the Indian Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and women social workers from Dhaka–Chiranthi founded Hype Sri Lanka (The Incubator): the region's first and only youth empowerment incubator to provide youth (in all their intersectionalities) space to lead the rethinking of development systems in the Global South.
