Lokendra Sharma is a Research Analyst in the High-Tech Geopolitics Programme of the Takshashila Institution in Bengaluru. He is also finishing his PhD at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Benglauru. His primary research interests are tech-policy, cyberspace governance, internet governance, cyberpolitics, cybersecurity, and generally issues at the intersection of technology and politics (including nuclear developments). He has qualified for Junior Research Fellowship offered by the University Grants Commission, Government of India, in two subjects: International and Area Studies (December 2019); Defence and Strategic Studies (June 2019). He is also an active volunteer in the internet governance community. He has been a recipient of the prestigious Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) that included active participation in the APrIGF annual event in Taipei, Taiwan in August 2024.
He has published a full-length research article on maritime cybersecurity in the Journal of the Indian Ocean Region. He has also published book reviews and op-eds on cyber and internet related issues in reputed journals (Journal of Cyber Policy, International Studies and Defence Studies) and newspapers (Moneycontrol, The Telegraph India and Deccan Herald).
He holds an MA in Politics: International and Area Studies from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi (2018-2020).
